Apprentice warehouse logistics specialist

Sailing and motor yachts from HanseYachts AG are made up of many separate components, some of which we make ourselves (such as the hull and deck) and some of which we procure from premium suppliers. We use engines from Volvo, Yanmar and Mercury; navigation electronics from B&G, Garmin and Raymarine; sails from Elvström and Quantum; heating systems from Eberspächer and Webasto; masts from Seldén and Z Spars; fittings from Harken and Lewmar; and running rigging from Liros. 

The parts and sub-assemblies ordered from our suppliers are delivered to HanseYachts AG’s incoming goods area, where our warehouse logistics specialists record, scan, check and sort them. The components are then picked, which involves gathering together the specific parts needed for a particular order. Our warehouse logistics specialists then deliver the picked parts directly to the final assembly line, where they are installed in a new yacht as part of a just-in-time production process. 

Because each of our yachts is made to order to meet the customer’s specific requests and comprises hundreds of different parts, no two days are the same for our warehouse logistics specialists.

Our apprentice warehouse logistics specialists work at a computer and in the warehouse, and transport the picked parts from the warehouse to final assembly. They also help to optimise the flow of information and materials within the company. It is possible to obtain a forklift licence during the apprenticeship.

Course content:

• Recording incoming goods and drafting fault reports
• Preparing picking
• Delivering picked parts and sub-assemblies to final assembly

Requirements:

• Good Hauptschule or Mittlere Reife school leaving qualifications
• Written and spoken English skills
• A business-focused mindset
• A sociable nature
• Teamwork skills 

Course length: Three years

• Vocational school in Stralsund (teaching module)
• Practical module at HanseYachts AG
