It was one of the windiest Skagen Round Races of the last 10 years. Beaufort force 8 with waves of more than 3 meters high expected the participants of the only real German ocean race on the North Sea, and later light to moderate winds in the Kattegat and the Baltic Sea.

It was one of the windiest Skagen Round Races of the last 10 years. Beaufort force 8 with waves of more than 3 meters high expected the participants of the only real German ocean race on the North Sea, and later light to moderate winds in the Kattegat and the Baltic Sea.
The Skagen race is held every 2 years within the North Sea Week. The course goes over 510 nautical miles from Helgoland and around Skagen (Denmark's northern tip) to the finish line at Kiel Lighthouse. Many participants retired the race with damaged material.

The German Dehler 35 "Ree" by owner Bernard Ihnken with an experienced crew was unimpressed by the poor conditions. "Ree" won in her class ORCi 1 on corrected time of more than 25 minutes against 11 competitors..

The "Ree" is not an unknown Dehler 35. 2010 she won the German Championships in the ORC i-class in light winds. She can win as well in strong winds. Congratulations!
