The biggest world sailing championship of all time came to an end in Kiel at the weekend. Out of 151 competitors, the Dehler 38 "Sporthotel" came third among the German teams

An exciting ORC World Championship came to an end last weekend. In the first half of the 'Kiel Week' event in particular, the teams were faced with predominantly light winds. The races remained exciting right to the very end.

The one-off "Leu" with skipper Albert Schweizer (Bremen) really turned up the heat on the two final days, climbing way up in the ranking with two victories, coming in forth place and narrowly missing out on a podium position by two and a half points. Two German competitors made the top ten in class B, with the Corby 38 "Rockall IV" led by Christopher Opielok - a Hamburg native living in Hong Kong - coming in sixth, and the "Sporthotel" (Dehler 38 C) with Kalle Dehler (Greifswald) at number ten.

A great success for the family crew led by Karl Dehler, as most of the competition were sailing with professional paid crews! "The ORC Worlds were characterized by high level of performance and fair racing conditions. The fight for the podium positions was exciting and hard fought right to the very end", says Karl Dehler, summing up the week.

We would like to congratulate the "Sporthotel" crew on their great result!
