Tim Darni sets off on solo sail race across the Atlantic Ocean on his 6.5 m boat "SO'KANAA JUS 100% NATUREL"

Solo across the Atlantic

Mini-Transat with Team Privilège

Tim Darni and his father Eric are a well-rehearsed duo when it comes to rigging and test sailing Privilège's blue-water catamarans. Harbor maneuvers in the tightest of spaces with the imposing double hulls are just as much part of their repertoire as testing new technologies in all weather conditions.

But 27-year-old Tim is also a passionate single-handed sailor with big ambitions — no wonder if you grew up in sailing-mad Les Sables D'Olonne. The starting signal has just been given for the core leg of the 23rd Mini-Transat from Santa Cruz de La Palma to Guadeloupe in the southern Caribbean. In addition to his father Eric, all Team Privilège is of course extremely proud that Tim has tackled this legendary single-handed regatta. With the sail number 432, he is represented in the prototype classification with a carbon Mini from 2003 and hopes for a top 10 finish.

Gilles Wagner, CEO Privilège: “We are all cheering along and constantly following the live tracker. Crossing the Atlantic alone in a 6.5 m boat is an incredible achievement. Tim's racing and offshore experience is also valuable to Privilège, which is why we support him as best we can and are doubly looking forward to a successful return.”

In the coming years, Tim hopes to take part in other major regattas such as the Route du Rhum 2022 and the Transat Jacques Vabre 2023, in order to achieve his biggest dream in 2024: the Vendeé Globe.

Bonne chance, Tim!
