Moody DS 54 hull is here!

It has been some months since the plans to build the new Moody deck saloon 54 (DS 54) were presented on "boot 2013" in Düsseldorf. The time has now finally come and the first hull has arrived in the production halls at Moody Boats ready for the interior construction.

The Moody team is already hard at work on the yacht, as the ship is due to be presented to interested parties, visitors and the press at the "boot 2014" in Düsseldorf this coming January!

Market research has shown that there is a demand among customers for deck saloon yachts in the 50 foot class for blue water cruising and sailing in northern Europe: The Moody DS 54 is our answer to this observation. With a hull length of 17.15 m and a width of 5.20 m, the new 54 foot model closes the gap between the DS 45 and the larger DS 62. The closed deck saloon is suitable for both hot and colder climates, as it offers protection from wind, weather and the sun. Combined with an extremely well protected cockpit area, the new Moody DS 54 makes the perfect choice for any sailor who spends lots of time on the water.

The first pictures already give an indication of the modern forms. The extremely high-quality, hand laminated vinylester hull with long water line is built as a full sandwich with balsa wood core. Processing by hand and attention to detail are the key to success for this model. The complete floor structure with its extremely solid keel segment unique in series boat production and all elements contributing to the stability of the boat are already connected structurally in the hull with the supporting compartments.

The next step is the interior construction and connection with the deck. Our next mailing in December will contain more information on this, along with further exclusive insights into the construction status of the new Moody DS 54 – something to look forward to!

The unique Moody concept of "Living on one Level" is also being implemented consistently in the new model. You can move from the cockpit to the deck saloon on one level and without steps, the cabins are located below the saloon and under the foredeck. The fully glazed deck saloon offers an all-round view without compromise.

Future owners can choose from different layouts, woods and materials. With a wide range of options, the Moody yachts can also be configured individually according to the wishes of the owner.
