Update on the Covid-19 situation
Dear clients, colleagues and partners,
As always, we wish to meet our promise and give an update on the current situation at HanseYachts AG in times of Covid-19:
We meanwhile have 35 colleagues in our main factory in Greifswald, Germany, who have been tested positively. Most of the concerned do not exhibit any symptoms. However, three employees have fallen gravely ill. Two of these are in need of artificial respiration and we are currently share their families’ worries. Some of our employees tend to the sustenance of the families, who are of good health but in strict quarantine. We thank them for their commitment and wish the concerned colleagues a speedy recovery.
On Monday, we had a personal visit by Mrs. Dr. Marlies Kühn, head official and public health officer of the local health authority of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district, and by Mr. Ralf Hamp, representative of the regional office for health and social affairs. Both administrative bodies confirm that our health and hygiene is good and free from defects. Most of the infections have been traced back to the private domain. We have found out that many employees carpool and also spend much of their free time with their colleagues. Before the corona outbreak we have always approved of these practices considering social and ecological reasons.
Many infections concern employees of the carpentry. As a precaution, we have sent the entire department home. Additionally, we have conducted extensive testing at our own expense in order to stop the further spread. We now hope to have thus contained the spread. Many of the aforementioned infected have therefore been measured in persons, who have been sent home preventatively.
In all other parts of the yard, the production of boats is diligently being continued. Naturally, these measures may result in delays in the planned delivery of boats, as the carpentry produces the furniture for all our brands. A delay of approximately one week is currently expected. A more detailed analysis can only take place in one to two weeks. We hope for your understanding of the situation.
Considering the most recent events we have also reached a decision on our participation in the world largest indoor boat show: We have proposed to Messe Düsseldorf to consider a postponement of the boot Düsseldorf 2021 boat show. In light of the current occurence of infection in Germany and Düsseldorf we see ourselves unable to take part in the show in January. The planned innovations and boats can be seen in Greifswald instead. We are happy to arrange an individual appointment for a private viewing. Tours of the production halls are, however, still prohibited.
