At this years NRW Cup (an event for German sailors of the Düsseldorf area) held on the Dutch IJsselmeer near Lelystad, Dirk Neukirchen of Düsseldorfer Yacht-Club and his crew sailed on second place overall in class ORC i. With light winds and low temperature a fleet of 70 boats in 4 classes fighted for the title of Nordrhein-Westfalen-Champion. Up to the last race three boats had the same points and the fight for the title was completely open. At the end Axel Röder and his X 35 won the race by finishing very close in front of Neukirchens Hanse 35 R and snapped the title. Third was Ralf Ehlen with his X 43. Neukirchen lost his last years title, but his fight will go on. He will take his boat to the North Sea to sail German Offshore Championships from 21st of May.
