Luxury power catamarans and sailing catamaran
Privilége is the most celebrated brand for elegant, high-quality luxury catamarans. The world’s sixth-biggest catamaran-builder has been producing sailing and power catamarans measuring over 15 metres in length for the past more than thirty years and was acquired by HanseYachts AG in 2019. The acquisition saw three new boats added to the portfolio, bringing the grand total up to five models. The latest additions are the Signature 580 and the Signature 650 sailing catamarans. Since the acquisition, Privilége’s order backlog has increased from EUR 10 million to more than EUR 25 million.
- Sixth-biggest manufacturer of luxury catamarans for blue-water sailing

Passion is infinite.
True to this philosophy, back in 1985 Philippe Jeantot – two-time world champion in single-handed sailing and founder of the legendary ‘Vendée Globe’ – designed a sailing catamaran that was originally intended as a place for his family to live while they visited him. The design is the product of Philippe’s vast experience in round-the-world sailing and an expression of his passion for sailing. So enthusiastic was the response to this catamaran that he was inspired to found his own company: Privilége. Since the mid-1990s, more than 60 yachts bearing this name and measuring between 18 and 23 metres in length have been delivered to customers all over the world. The catamarans are built in Les Sables d’Olonne on the Atlantic coast of France. The shipyard covers 25,000 square metres and has production halls covering 15,000 square metres. In 2019, the company was acquired by HanseYachts AG.
‘With Privilége, we are expanding our multi-brand strategy. The market for catamarans is extremely attractive and not one that we had previously served. Of all market segments, it is the fastest-growing worldwide and has doubled in size within just five years,’ says Dr Jens Gerhardt, former CEO of HanseYachts AG. ‘Privilége currently enjoys a healthy order backlog amounting to more than 25 million EURO. Acquiring this brand allows us to increase our capacities by more than EUR 30 million every year, which will provide a further boost to our long-term growth trajectory.’
Increased yacht sales
Since its acquisition, Privilége has benefited from not only the purchasing power behind sales revenue of EUR 150 million a year, but also from HanseYachts AG’s global sales network comprising 230 dealers in 90 countries. In addition to opening up new national markets, the brand expects to generate further growth impetus by expanding its model range. Privilége has developed three new models since being acquired by HanseYachts AG. The Signature 650 and Signature 580 sailing catamarans complement the already highly successful Serie 740 and Signature 510 models. And with the Euphorie 5, Privilége has for the first time entered the market segment for luxury power catamarans. Every single model sets new standards in comfort, safety and sailing pleasure. Marc Lombard has been Privilége’s chief designer since 1985. Particularly gratifying are the nominations of the Privilège Signature 510 for the “British Yachting Awards 2018” as well as the Euphorie 5 as “Multihull Of The Year 2019” and the Privilège Signature 580 as “Multihull Of The Year 2022”.
